My Future Vision

The poster I have made depicts some of the skills, emotions, and a job that I'd like to have in the future. I intend on going to college to partake in a degree that is similar in my interests in media design and art. My ambition is to go to a college like Fullerton so I can improve my skills and enjoy what I love doing. After I graduate from college, I hope to have a career in multimedia art or graphic design. I represented my interest in art and design with several pictures of drawing and a poster of a media design school in my collage. A possible job for a graphic designer may include working as an design artist for Ghirardelli Chocolate. If I could get a job like this at some point in the future I would be ecstatic.

My goal is to stay close to home or in somewhere in California so I can visit my friends every so often. The map of California and the home in my collage represent my longing for my own home somewhere in California. My friends and I have decided that if we stay relatively close to each other we could rent out a medium sized apartment together assuming we all have jobs by then. The fingers in my collage represent my friendships with my close friends and the experiences we have shared. I plan to keep myself happy by traveling around the states (possibly the world), hanging out with my friends whenever I have the chance, and taking time to do things I enjoy. The cutout of Washington D.C. in the bottom left represents my favorite area that I've traveled to. Someday in the future I'd like to go back and visit some of the areas I missed during the week I was there.

The future has always been something on my mind ever since I started high school. The idea that I only have a couple years left scares me and I want to become a better person before my high school years are over. One of my goals in my youth is to work on my time management skills so I can be more productive in the future. I have always had trouble managing my time and it is still something I'm trying to get better at. The size of the red clock in the top left represents how important and necessary that skill will be to me in the future. I also plan to become a better artist by taking art classes every saturday and practice drawing in my sketchbook whenever I get a chance. The clipart of the hand doodling and the drawing tablet depict my interest in improving my skills in drawing on paper and on a tablet.

When I'm old and grey, my hope is that I will had plenty of experiences during my time and that I enjoyed what I accomplished in my life. I hoped that the choices I make in the future will be the right ones. I plan to have friends and family to keep me company when I'm older and possibly a family of my own. When Im old, I hope that I am happy with the way my life turned out.

The World Would Be a Better Place if...

PTSA, The World Would Be a Better Place if... Competition

The message of my artwork is that the world would be a better place if we could all relax. I expressed the feeling of being relaxed by the text in the trees and frame, sleeping boy, and the quiet night theme. I believe that if everyone took time to relax, we could improve ourselves both physically and mentally.

I created my artwork by using an illustrator tutorial as a guideline on Tuts+ as well as my imagination. I used the tutorial to get a better understanding of gradients and effects to complete my artwork. First, I made a black frame by using the blob brush, shape tool, and direct select tool. After the frame was completed I created the bush and hill shapes, filled them in with different sets of gradients, and placed them behind my frame. Then I added a few stars and a moon to the backdrop and applied glow and drop shadow effects to all of my shapes in the illustration to finish it off. I thought that the tutorial had a few missing steps, but it's pretty easy to follow if you know illustrator well enough. The tutorial that inspire me to create this artwork can be found here.
